Hexing for beginners!
Knowing where to find file & how to use them.
In order to start hexing you must know where to access the files that you need!
Most games are installed into the C: drive. This guide shows the most common way of getting to the game files but it may vary from computer to computer.

- On your desktop go to 'My Computer'
- Select the hard drive 'Local Disk (C:)'
- Scroll down and select 'Program Files'
- Scroll down and select 'Ubi Soft'
- Select the 'Petz' folder (Petz 4/5 etc)
- This should show similar content to the image below:
- Select your 'Resource' folder and select either 'Catz' or 'Dogz' depending on what file you are hexing.
- This will bring up all the current Dog/Cat files that are currently in your game. Textures are placed/found here too. I suggest BACKING UP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES before you start messing around with them. Just copy and paste the folder somewhere else on your computer (Documents or Desktop etc). This way you can just start over with original files if you want the game back to it's original state.
- To edit a file copy and paste it somewhere away from the Petz folder (maybe pop it in Documents or on your desktop etc) and edit that file in LNZ Pro or Petz Workshop instead.
- Once you have had all your hexing fun and pressed save, just simply copy and paste the edited file back into the Resource/Dogz or Resource/Catz folder.
- It will ask if you want to replace or keep both files. Always select replace.
- Your new edited file should now show up in your game!
